Searching the Pike County Court Docket
Know the venue first. The Pike County Circuit Clerk holds the dockets for both trial courts in the county. Circuit Court handles felonies, domestic relations, appeals from lower courts, and civil cases with more money at stake. District Court takes misdemeanors, state traffic tickets, small claims, district civil matters, juvenile cases, child support, and the early work on felony charges. Troy and Brundidge each keep their own municipal dockets. Estates and other probate business start at the Probate Office instead.
A full case number saves money, because AlacourtACCESS, also called Just One Look, charges for a docket search even when nothing matches. A name works too, but check the spelling, the court level, and the county before you pay for a result. Follow this order for a docket search:
- Read the notice or citation and identify the named court.
- Copy the whole case number, including punctuation and any suffix.
- Choose the name-search or case-number route in Just One Look.
- Open the case detail and read the newest Case Action Summary entries.
- Confirm a crucial setting or order with the court that holds the official file.
When the paid search comes back empty, go back to basics. Confirm the court and the spelling. Look over the setting-date list. Then call the correct clerk and ask whether you can inspect records free at the counter. A precise mailed request works for a known document. Pike publishes no record-request fax or drop box, so count on neither one.
Just One Look at Pike Dockets
The statewide trial-record portal reaches criminal, civil, small claims, state traffic, domestic-relations, and child-support cases. A name search costs $9.99 and includes the detail for one matching case. Each added detail costs more. Searching by case number also costs $9.99, with the chosen detail included. The fee applies even if the search turns up nothing. A broad common-name query can get expensive fast. The official Just One Look screen shows where a Pike County court docket search begins:
The portal gives you Court Setting Dates, actions and rulings, party details, the Case Action Summary, financial information, and any attachments. Treat it all as a convenience copy. Your purchase reflects the date you bought it. It never becomes a certified court record.
| Control | Use | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Name Search | Find a case when the number is unknown | $9.99; one detail included |
| Case Number Search | Go to a known case | Copy all punctuation and suffixes |
| Documents | Buy available filed images | Detail must be purchased first |
| Monitoring | Email notice of Case Action Summary changes | $19.99 District; $29.99 Circuit |
Inside a Pike County Court Docket
Alabama names its chronological register a Case Action Summary. It tells you what happened and when. It does not stand in for the filed documents themselves. A line saying an order was entered proves the event is on the docket, yet the signed order still has to be opened or requested before anyone reads it. Keep one more wrinkle in mind: the newest entry can change an older setting while the old setting stays in the history. A Pike County docket detail usually shows these fields:
| Case number | Court, year, case-type code, sequence, and sometimes a suffix, such as CV-2026-000123.00. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Public names and roles, including plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent. |
| Case actions | Filed pleadings, service, motions, notices, orders, rulings, and disposition events. |
| Settings | Published hearing dates and setting types, subject to later reset or continuance. |
| Financial data | Costs, fines, payments, balances, and other case amounts when public. |
| Attachments | Available electronic images sold separately through the portal. |
The prefixes are predictable. CC means Circuit Criminal, CV means Circuit Civil, and DC, DV, SM, TR, DR, and CS cover District Criminal, District Civil, Small Claims, Traffic, Domestic Relations, and Child Support in turn. Juvenile categories and confidential data stay restricted. Copy the code straight from the court notice. Never rebuild one from memory.
Pike Court Systems Have Different Jobs
Pike County filers meet four systems with four different jobs. AlaFile handles the filing side. Registered users send documents to the court through it. They also receive service through the same portal. AlacourtPlus stays behind the counter, built for clerks and judges rather than the public. Alacourt.com is a paid subscription for professionals who pull trial-court records again and again. Just One Look, though, lets anyone buy a single look on demand.
The Alabama electronic court systems overview shows how those roles line up.
An AlaFile login is not a license to browse. Filing through it does not make you the ordinary public docket reader. Once the court processes a filing, the event may appear in the Case Action Summary, and an eligible image may open up through the record-access system. Fresh filings can lag. Restricted material may never appear remotely at all.
- Case Action Summary
- The dated list of filings, settings, rulings, and other events.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, not always the final trial date.
- Reset
- An authorized move to a new date; the latest order or notice controls.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-attested copy, distinct from a portal printout.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Pike County
One Pike County Circuit Clerk serves both Circuit and District dockets. Municipal and probate records live elsewhere. Which docket applies depends on the subject, the amount, the issuing agency, and the procedural stage. Geography alone decides nothing here. A Troy police citation belongs in Troy Municipal Court. A sheriff or state-trooper citation generally goes to Pike District Court instead.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| Pike Circuit Court | Felonies, domestic cases, higher-value civil matters, lower-court appeals | Just One Look or Pike Circuit Clerk |
| Pike District Court | Misdemeanors, state traffic, small claims, district civil, preliminary felony work | Just One Look or Pike Circuit Clerk |
| Troy Municipal Court | Troy ordinance and municipal traffic cases | Troy public search or municipal court |
| Brundidge Municipal Court | Brundidge ordinance and municipal traffic matters | Brundidge court office |
| Pike Probate Court | Estates and other statutory probate business | Probate Office; confirm current contact |
The money thresholds matter. Circuit civil jurisdiction is exclusive above $20,000 and overlaps District jurisdiction above $6,000. Small claims tops out at $6,000. An appeal can open a new Circuit docket, but a municipal record never slides into the county system just because the case exists.
Pike Docket Numbers Point the Way
A case number can spare you a wrong-court search and a wasted name-search fee. Alabama numbers usually mix a case-type prefix, a filing year, a sequence, and a suffix. Something like CC-2026-000123.00 points to Circuit Criminal. Something like SM-2026-000123.00 suggests Small Claims. Both are pattern examples, not live cases.
When a number fails, compare every zero, hyphen, prefix, and suffix against the notice. Then confirm Pike County and the court level. A felony may start with District preliminary activity before it gets a Circuit Criminal number, and an appeal can open a new Circuit record tied to the lower matter. A citation number, though, may belong to the Alabama traffic service or a city court system instead.
Best search key: Use the complete number printed on the latest court notice. A partial number can lead to the wrong division or no result.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
A Pike County hearing date can surface in several places. Check the Court Setting Dates block. Check the Alacourt docket list, a clerk notice, an AlaFile service copy, or the court's working calendar. Whatever notice or signed order is newest controls. Be careful with old settings. A reset date can linger in the Case Action Summary and look live when it is not.
The Pike setting search takes a Setting Date plus an optional Last Name. Skip the surname and you get the whole published docket for that day. The system itself warns that some cases may not appear. So read the newest entry for language like set, reset, continued, notice, or order. Then run the full Pike County court dates check across every channel. If the online date clashes with a newer paper notice, call the clerk.
Pike Court Settings Need Context
Setting labels carry real meaning in a Pike County court docket. An arraignment takes a criminal plea and advisement. A docket call checks readiness. A motion hearing addresses a requested ruling, and a status or review setting tracks progress. Sentencing follows a conviction or a plea. None of those is a jury trial. Domestic cases add a trap of their own. Pike gives a contested case an assignment and a mailed setting notice. Filing alone does not create a hearing date.
Troy Municipal Court ordinarily meets on the first and third Wednesdays unless ordered otherwise. Its city search and calendar should be used for Troy matters. Brundidge publishes no anonymous docket portal, so its court office is the reliable starting point. Pike official sources identify no daily PDF calendar. There is no posting horizon, standing video link, or county weather procedure.
Note: A continuance request does not cancel attendance by itself. The judge must grant it, and a new setting must be entered or served.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Most ordinary Pike Circuit and District docket information is open to the public. Open does not mean every field appears online, though. Under Rule 30, court files may be inspected free at the clerk's office. Rule 33 preserves that courthouse access. It applies even when electronic database rules apply. The statewide privacy rules are effective in 2025. They draw separate lines between remote access, courthouse access, and confidential information.
Key Alabama access rules:
Ala. Code ยง36-12-40 supports inspection and copying of public writings unless another law restricts them.
Rule of Judicial Administration 30 preserves free inspection of open court files and governs copies and certification.
Rule of Judicial Administration 33 says electronic-data rules do not end courthouse inspection rights.
Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality Rules govern personal data and levels of access.
Some material stays closed even when a docket is public. Juvenile, adoption, sealed, and grand-jury records may be withheld. Protected addresses and phone information in qualifying protection-order records may be withheld too. A missing online result can reflect timing, spelling, coverage, or restriction. It never proves that a case was erased.
Pike Courthouse Addresses Can Mislead
The current Pike court and clerk page sends visitors to the Pike County Judicial Complex at 1318 North Three Notch Street, Troy, Alabama 36081.
The clerk phone is (334) 566-5113. Published hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. Older Alabama court directories and the fiscal 2022 report list a different address. They show 120 West Church Street and (334) 566-4622. Call before relying on that older address. Pike does not publish the exact workstation spot. Parking instructions and a general device policy are also missing from its postings.
The historic courthouse dates to 1953, replacing an 1880 building one block away. Charles F. Minch designed it, and it saw a major renovation in 2001. Current operations advertise the newer Judicial Complex. A historical courthouse reference may be the wrong destination for a present-day docket request.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
Jamie Neeley Scarbrough is the elected Pike County Circuit Clerk. Her office keeps the records. It runs the business side of Circuit and District proceedings, handling pleadings, subpoenas, trial and hearing notices, court money, and jury functions. Its divisions cover civil, criminal, domestic, child support, traffic, juvenile, and warrants. The official clerk profile explains the record-keeping role. It also covers the electronic image flow.
Mail requests need specifics. Include the case number, case style, court division, document title and date, plain or certified choice, a return contact, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Confirm the total and payee before sending anything. Phone or email can clarify whether an image exists and how to submit the request, but staff cannot give legal advice or orally certify a record.

Pike Court Copies and Search Costs
Free counter inspection and paid online access are two different channels. Pike's official fee sheet lists clerk copies under 20 pages at $0.25 per page. Certification runs $5 per document. Just One Look charges $5 for the first 20 document-image pages. After that, each page costs $0.50. The image charge comes after the case detail purchase.
| Record service | Verified amount |
|---|---|
| Inspect an open court file at the clerk office | Free |
| Clerk copy under 20 pages | $0.25 per page |
| Clerk certification | $5 per document |
| Just One Look name or case-number search | $9.99 base search |
| Online document image | $5 first 20 pages; $0.50 each added page |
A portal printout is not a certified copy. For formal proof, the clerk-held file is the source. The Alabama Administrative Office of Courts also routes users to official statewide services.
Fees shift over time, and the statewide rule index logs the recent amendments. Confirm the current amount before you mail a payment or order a large file.
Federal Dockets Outside Pike Courts
Federal cases do not live with the Pike County Circuit Clerk. Pike County sits in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, where federal trial filings run through CM/ECF and PACER. Bankruptcy matters go to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Alabama, and federal appeals go to the Eleventh Circuit. The official PACER service is the federal docket search route.
PACER runs on separate registration and pricing. CourtListener's RECAP collection can hold contributed federal documents, though it is not the official court record. A federal caption, case number, or notice should never be searched only in Alabama's state trial portal.
Pike Docket Work by the Numbers
Pike dockets split in telling ways. The Alabama judiciary's fiscal 2022 report shows Pike Circuit filings at 56% criminal and 44% civil. District filings ran 78% traffic, 18% criminal, and 4% civil. Those shares show why the court-level choice matters. Traffic dominates the District workload, while felony and major civil matters land on the Circuit docket.
Treat those figures as workload context. Pike official sources post no portal refresh interval or guaranteed request turnaround. A newly filed item can sit in clerk processing before it appears in the retail interface.
Pike County Court Dockets by City
Pike County has four incorporated municipalities in the 2020 Census list. Troy and Brundidge maintain municipal court channels. Goshen and Banks post no standalone court portal. Their pages focus on reading the citation and finding the true custodian. They turn to Pike's state-court tools only when the named court is District or Circuit. A municipal case stays with its city custodian unless an appeal or transfer opens a Pike Circuit docket.
Troy Docket Search
17,727 people in 2020. Troy publishes a municipal search, calendar, and direct court contact.
Brundidge Docket Search
2,073 people in 2020. Brundidge uses a direct phone and email court path.
Goshen Docket Search
223 people in 2020. The citation's court line controls because no standalone portal was verified.
Banks Docket Search
156 people in 2020. State and town records must be routed to their actual custodians.
Population figures come from the U.S. Census Pike County data; they set the city-page list, not court jurisdiction. The issuing agency and the court named on the ticket still decide where a particular docket belongs.
Map and Directions to the Pike County Judicial Complex
Circuit and District Court records, civil, criminal, domestic, child support, traffic, juvenile, and warrant divisions among them, are handled at the Pike County Judicial Complex, 1318 North Three Notch Street in Troy. This is the currently published clerk location; an older AOC directory and the fiscal 2022 report instead list the historic courthouse at 120 West Church Street, so a caller should confirm which address is correct before a trip. Jurors report to Circuit Courtroom 3.
